What is the 60/40 split for boat diesel?
When you buy diesel for a boat you declare how much of it will drive the boat and how much will heat it or run its generator. The propulsion share pays full fuel duty and the domestic share a lower rate, so a seller can quote three prices for the same diesel. Many boaters declare 60% propulsion and 40% domestic, and many canal-side sellers quote that split as their headline price.
