Boat fuel prices in the UK: marinas, boatyards and canal pontoons
FillRadar maps 190 places a boat can take on fuel and shows diesel and petrol prices where they are known. Marine diesel is priced by the duty declaration you make when you buy, so every diesel price is shown with the declaration it was quoted under.

What you pay for marine diesel depends on what you declare it is for. FillRadar shows the declaration for each price:
- 60/40 split: the declaration many leisure boaters make, with part of the fuel declared as driving the boat and the rest as heating it.
- Domestic: declared for heating and other non-propulsion use, at the lower duty rate.
- Propulsion: declared as driving the boat, at the full duty rate.
The prices a yard quotes under the three declarations differ by the whole of the fuel duty, so a headline price means little without its declaration.
The declaration is your responsibility. FillRadar does not advise on what you should declare. Check the price, the declaration terms and whether the pontoon is open with the operator before you rely on a figure.

No UK scheme publishes boat fuel prices, so each figure was reported by a boater, or taken from a published source and shown with its date:
- The Inland Waterways Diesel & Pumpout Price Survey (diesel.afmm.org.uk).
- MDL Marinas' published fuel prices.
- Fuel pontoons recorded in OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL).
- Canal businesses are placed on the map using OpenStreetMap and the Canal & River Trust's open bridge and lock data, under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
Imported prices are taken once, before a release. A boater's newer report replaces them.

Where do boat fuel prices come from?
From boaters using the app, the Inland Waterways Diesel & Pumpout Price Survey, and marina operators' published price lists. Imported prices are shown with their date, and a boater's newer report replaces them. No UK scheme publishes boat fuel prices.
What do 60/40, domestic and propulsion mean?
They are the duty declarations that decide the price of marine diesel. Propulsion means the fuel is declared as driving the boat and carries full duty. Domestic means it is declared for heating and other non-propulsion use, at the lower rate. 60/40 is the split many leisure boaters declare, with part of the fuel declared for propulsion and the rest for heating. The declaration you make is your own legal responsibility.
Are boat fuel prices verified?
No. Prices are reports or dated imports. Check the price, the declaration terms and whether the pontoon is open with the operator before you rely on a figure.
Can I report a boat fuel price?
Yes. Signed-in users can report a diesel or petrol price and the declaration it was quoted under, mark a product as unavailable, or confirm another boater's report. Reporting is limited to three reports per product per site a day.
